HostMetro is a web hosting provider that was founded in 2012. The company ONLY specializes in shared web hosting.

We still consider this company to be “new” when compared to other web hosting giants such as Bluehost, HostGator, or DreamHost.

Here’s something that stood out to us…

One of HostMetro’s most unique web hosting features is its price lock guarantee. This basically means that when it comes time to renew, your monthly price won’t increase by 300% like other companies.

HostMetro Review Uptime 

It doesn’t matter what you heard before. We’re telling you now.

The uptime and speed of a web hosting provider should be one of your top priorities when it comes to choosing a web hosting provider.

According to Google, 53% of mobile users leave a site if it takes more than 3 seconds to load! 

Damn lol, that’s a sh*t ton…

There are two things we want you to get from this data.

First, HostMetro uptime is pretty reliable! It’s not the best we’ve seen, but it’s far from the worst. 

Secondly (and also unfortunately), HostMetro speed is quite slow. Like not snail pace slow, but definitely below our standard when it comes to hosting providers.

There are tons of other web hosting companies out there that offer affordable plans and services. So what makes HostMetro stand apart?

The biggest difference between HostMetro and other hosting sites is that HostMetro only offers two different types of shared hosting. 

Mega Max Plan & Super Max Plan.

What is Shared Hosting? 

Shared hosting is the most affordable type of web hosting. It’s the best option if you don’t receive a lot of traffic to your site yet. 

With shared hosting, HostMetro stores your website on a server with multiple other customers and websites. The server’s resources and price get evenly distributed amongst the customers – hence, the word “shared.”

What’s the downside?

Your site’s performance could be affected if another website on the server receives a spike in traffic. But in our opinion, this won’t be a problem for you if your site doesn’t receive a high volume of traffic yet.

The Super Max Plan is $6.95 per month and comes with everything in the Mega Max, plus those additional add-ons. Things such as free domain privacy, free SSL, daily malware scans.

Like most web hosting providers, HostMetro uses cPanel as its primary control dashboard.

This makes it very easy to find exactly what you’re looking for with no difficulty!

HostMetro Email

Hosting plans come with a built-in email for domain-specific email addresses. However, if you want more security and protection, you can upgrade to their MetroMail.

Pricing for MetroMail is $2.50 per month.

HostMetro Support

Customer support should be an important factor when it comes to picking a web hosting provider. The ability to quickly resolve issues has gotten us out of many jams in the past. 

HostMetro offers 24/7 live chat and email support. They also offer phone support on weekdays from 8 am – 8 pm CST. 

In addition, HostMetro has a knowledge-based library of articles that should answer just about every question you come across.

Is HostMetro Good?

So it all comes down to this… is HostMetro a good web hosting provider?

Simply put, nope.

In our opinion, we think there are much better web hosting providers in the market that can give you more bang for your buck. HostMetro is just too small and restrictive for us to recommend.

However, HostMetro’s price lock guarantee is the one feature that really stands out to us. 

If you plan on sticking with the most basic form of web hosting for a long time, then you can consider going with HostMetro because your monthly price will never increase. 

Just don’t expect your page to be lightning fast.
